Take your bike on a cruise on Loch Katrine. Experience one of Scotland’s most scenic loch cruises and disembark at – Stronachlachar. (45 mins sail) From here, cycle along the lochside road (mostly traffic-free) 14 miles/21km back to the starting point at Trossachs Pier. A unique bike and boat experience and a fantastic day out for all the family.
Electric bikes are a fantastic way to explore this route and take the sting out of the hills! (note: minimum age is 14 for ebike hire)
Sailing departure from Trossachs Pier is normally 10.30am and we suggest you arrive at our Bike Hire cabin around 9.45am to collect your bikes. Save time and prebook your bikes online.
It’s also possible to do the route in reverse by cycling from Loch Katrine and catching the 3.30 pm boat back from Stronachlachar, but you must book the boat to ensure they have space. The suggested pick-up time for the bikes for the afternoon sailing back is 12.45 pm from the Bike Hire Cabin at Trossachs Pier.
Book Cycle Hire at Loch Katrine
Pre-booking of the cruise boat is essential; please advise us if you have hired bikes so space can be allocated. (Please note There is a £3 charge per bike payable to Loch Katrine for bike carridge.)
Once you have the booking confirmed, you can book your bikes online with Katrine Wheelz. It's usually a 4-hour hire you need for this trip.
Please note space on the boat for bikes is limited, and you must let us know you have hired bikes and whether they are standard or electric bikes.

You can only cycle around the North Shore Road.

A few hills are on the north shore road, but the road is suitable for families. One section of the road has a 12-degree gradient at the graveyard brae.

Bikes can be carried at a small surcharge, subject to availability. If you plan to travel from Stronachlachar to Trossachs Pier, you must pre-book your ticket to be sure of travel. Note: bikes are taken on boats at the users risk.

Yes, between May and October, you can either take our cruise to Stronchlachar and cycle back to Trossachs Pier or take a reverse route, cycling to Stronachlachar and travelling by boat with your bike to Trossachs Pier.

Check our cruise options for sailings that stop at Stronachlachar. Purchase a Freedom Pass to return on a later boat to enjoy the lochside, including some pleasant walks and the Pier Café. Also, it is available for the reverse journey from Stronachlachar to Trossachs Pier.
